Welcome to my new weekly column: Tuesdays with The Vintage Twin. Hosting seasonal trunk shows and accepting personal shopping/styling appointments, The Vintage Twin has dressed customers from all over the country in high quality one-of-a-kind vintage clothing, jewelry, and accessories. The Vintage Twin has the imagination, patience, and entrepreneurial skills to help you develop a style that is all your own (but may have belonged to someone else a few decades ago). With 80% of inventory priced under $44, you can enjoy guilt and hassle free shopping!
With TVT, there is no need for tiring trips to vintage stores with thousands of cluttered garments or over-priced SoHo/LA vintage boutiques. Please browse the Photo Gallery and Introduction page on www.thevintagetwin.com to get an idea for what TVT has to offer…
Now that we are better acquainted, I can tell you a little bit about how The Vintage Twin came to be. The summer of 2009 was filled with walks from Murray Hill to SoHo, where I explored the vintage clothing haven that is the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Weeknights were filled with a relentless pursuit of NYC’s trendiest spots, where TVT gleamed from the compliments her vintage outfits received. After taking several friends on “personal shopping dates” and being continually hounded for the sources of her eclectic outfits, one business major (me), one photographer (my twin), and one mediator (the brother we never had) got to work.
The objective was to provide the many people who value unique clothing and style with a service that boasts affordability and personal attention. While many people can appreciate a Valentino blazer from the 70s, you would be hard pressed to find someone willing to search through the thousands of garments that TVT had to in order to find it. Unlike fancy SoHo/LA vintage boutiques which charge a major premium for their selection skills, TVT works to help you create your own style at prices that work for you.
Personal styling appointments and invitation-only trunk shows provide friends and a greater network of people from the tri-state area, Boston, Michigan, California, and Indiana the opportunity to come play “dress up” and shop. Due to popular demand, TVT has expanded to include menswear, outerwear, jewelry, and home decor. What is even more exciting is the online store that TVT has in the works! In a few weeks, you will be able to purchase any piece from the TVT collection over the internet on www.thevintagetwin.com after reading about it on Bloginity.
Every Tuesday I will take a reprieve from sewing to write about my latest creations, share photos, and my inspiration or creative process. To provide some insight into the nature of TVT inventory, I will share three pieces with you each from different categories: Hand-Picked by TVT, Remodeled, and Original Design.
We look forward to debuts at other major universities and cities and hope to see you at our home base in the great NYC during the spring and summer of 2010 and ONLINE here every Tuesday and on www.thevintagetwin.com all day everyday!
