Angelina Jolie and her father, Jon Voight, keep in touch mostly over the internet.
Actor Jon Voight – who recently reconciled with Angelina after being estranged from her for several years – plans to use internet video conferencing software Skype to chat to his family while he is shooting his new TV show.
“It’s hard for me to be away from my grandkids, yes, but I’ll stay in touch with them,” he said while preparing to head to Texas for Lonestar.
“Thank god we have this technology, and you know, we use all of it. We’re just setting it up now. Anyway, I love being in touch with the family.”
Angelina, 35, raises six children – Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne – with her long-term partner Brad Pitt.
The 71-year-old star also praised his daughter’s movies, describing her work as “terrific”.
“Her work is terrific. And Angie, for some reason, has this emotional capacity to make every piece of this really authentic, ’cause it’s really unreal stuff that they’re doing,” said Voight. “But that’s the genre and she gives another energy to it. She’s very, very good. It’s not like a novelty. She’s really doing it.”
Jon is also proud of his daughter for taking on the title role in action film Salt while still caring for her young twins.
“It’s interesting to talk to her about why she made the decision to this movie,” he said. “She was nursing two babies at the time that she decided to do this role.”
