Stieg Larsson‘s wildly popular novel, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has thrilled readers across the globe and will now do the same for those too lazy to read, as it is being adapted for the big screen.
David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) will direct the film, which stars Rooney Mara, a relatively unknown actress. However, she did appear in the Michael-Cera-playing-Michael-Cera film Youth In Revolt as well as Nightmare on Elm Street and The Social Network, which chronicles the rise of Facebook.
Rooney Mara will star as Lisbeth Salander in the three movies of the “Millenium Trilogy”: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest.
Daniel Craig, who starred as James Bond in Casino Royale, will also appear in all three films, portraying Blomkvist, a journalist who works with Lisbeth to solve a murder.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo begins filming in Sweden next month, and you’ll be able to see Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig in theaters in December 2011. Interested in the books? You can find more information on the “Millennium Trilogy” right here.
