Its often the little details that make big headlines, and at this year’s London Film Festival there was no shortage of embarrassing questions related to Mila Kunis’ onscreen kiss with co-star Natalie Portman.
As the press conference for Black Swan got underway, Mila Kunis began to blush as she faced a difficult question from Vincent Cassel who also attended along with director Darren Aronofsky. Kunis had praise for Natalie Portman’s professionalism, who had been tipped for an Oscar since receiving a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival in September.
French actor Vincent Cassel answered a question from reporters related to Natalie’s onscreen performance :
“With our scenes together, she really went for it, she’s not like a typical actress who doesn’t want to kiss or whatever, she really just goes for it. And she did it really well, so, it was easy… “
However, following Mila’s answer about Natalie being fantastic to work with, Cassell went further to ask “but what about the kissing Mila, do you agree with me?” in which she replied after going red faced ‘”Yes. What he said…”
Black Swan has received much hype as Natalie Portman went through a gruelling process to train for the film, where she plays a lesbian ballerina, and reportedly slept just 4 hours a night during the shoot.
Often the pressures of the onset experience can push actors to the edge, but what reporters have been really curious to find out is how well acted ‘under pressure’ the onscreen kissing was.
Such moments have been widely documented, dissected and even ranked in hall’s of fame, but whether this onscreen kiss will be remembered as a classic is yet to be known. What audiences will be anticipating to hear is whether Black Swan will indeed get any Oscar or Golden Globe nods, and will Natalie ever want to have an onscreen kiss again after the hype surrounding it?
