From the Partridge Family to the police station: David Cassidy was arrested late Wednesday on DUI charges after a Fort Pierce, Florida patrolman saw the actor weaving between lanes, nearly striking another car in the process.
David Cassidy, who is now 60, claims he will fight the charges. However, a Florida Highway Patrol report notes that Cassidy admitted to drinking a glass of wine at lunch and also had hydrocodone and prescription medication in his system at the time of the arrest.
What Cassidy didn’t explain, though, was the half-empty bottle of bourbon spotted in his car, and the “slight odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage” the officer claimed was emanating from his mouth.
Cassidy then proceeded to fail field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with failure to maintain a single lane, having an open container and DUI. Cassidy’s publicist denies the police officer’s account is valid and expressed a desire to dispute the charges.
Cassidy was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday night and released at 3:22 a.m. Thursday. You can find David Cassidy’s music here.
