With the much anticipated release of their 13th studio album ALL YOU NEED IS NOW, British pop legends Duran Duran have stormed straight to #1 on the Pop Download Charts in the UK, US, Canada and Italy within hours of the album’s release today, December 21st, exclusively on the iTunes Store. The 9-track LP, produced by the Grammy Award-winning Mark Ronson, is currently #2 on the U.S. iTunes Album Chart. An expanded physical LP with additional original, new tracks will be released in February 2011 in various format deluxe packages.
Duran Duran’s vibrant video for lead single “All You Need Is Now” premiered on Yahoo! The video is also available on the iTunes Store today. Sure to be quickly embraced as part of the band’s celebrated music video portfolio, it showcases both a fresh vision and the enduring aesthetic that Duran Duran videos have been celebrated for throughout the band’s three-decade career. Helmed by celebrated director Nick Egan, whose previous work includes videos for Duran Duran’s “White Lines” and “Ordinary World”, the video also features additional footage by Gavin Elder, longtime documentary filmmaker for the band.
ALL YOU NEED IS NOW, produced by Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Adele, Kaiser Chiefs, Lily Allen) and mixed by Spike Stent (Madonna, Björk, No Doubt), is a return-to-roots homage to Duran Duran’s most celebrated musical panache. Having sold more than 80 million albums worldwide, the four original members of Duran Duran – John Taylor, Roger Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Simon Le Bon – have created what Ronson boldly stated is “the imaginary follow-up to Rio that never was.”
