Britney Spears new music video ‘Hold It Against Me’ may be ‘borrowing footage’ from Kanye’s ‘Runaway’.
The music video features a huge amount of product placement (PlentyOfFish.com, Sony and more..), very fast editing, and includes what looks like Kanye West’s ‘Runaway’ footage. If you look closely, there are several shots of a comet in the video that look exactly like the one flying through West’s directorial debut.
What makes this video a huge disappointment is the fact that the video has a bad structure to it, lacks a good visual style of pace, and doesn’t deliver the Britney we see in ‘Toxic’ or ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’. Product placement is also becoming more common in high budget videos, but inserting them randomly in this way doesn’t do the sponsors or the video justice.
However there are merits to this video in the quality of the set design, and the direction of the shots. Will Kanye West notice the ‘copycat’ comet?
