More and more details are leaking out about the new Britney Spears album, which we have now learned is titled Femme Fatale. Britney Spears’ new album, which is her seventh studio effort, while drop on March 15, and producer and songwriter Dr. Luke has just shared some new information on Femme Fatale, which is not yet finished.
“We’re in the middle of it right now,” said Dr. Luke. “I can’t even say at this stage what songs for sure are making it and what songs aren’t.”
According to Dr. Luke, Femme Fatale is not being slowed down by Britney, but rather the other aspects of the recording and marketing process.
“Britney’s really fast…she gets it done,” Dr. Luke said. “We’re working with a lot of producers and overseeing it with her A&R and record label and management and trying to make something cohesive.”
Another interesting tidbit revealed by Dr. Luke: the hit single “Hold It Against Me” — which debuted at number one on the pop charts — was originally going to be given to another femme fatale of the pop world, Katy Perry.
“We might have played it for her, but it definitely wasn’t a Katy Perry record,” said Dr. Luke. “We had it for a while. I wanted to make sure it didn’t sound like everything else I’ve done.”
Dr. Luke credits his collaboration with pop writer Billboard and Max Martin, who wrote “…Baby One More Time,” as the key to making “Hold It Against Me” a distinctive track.
