Happy Pi Day! If you’ve heard that today but don’t know why, it’s because today is Pi Day, the celebration of the mathematical symbol that is equal to about 3.14. Thus, Pi Day is celebrated on March 14, which is 3.14. Pi is usually shortened to to 3.14159265, although the number is an irrational one, meaning it never ends. Pi is used, among other things, to calculate area and circumference.
Perhaps the greatest part about this mathematical constant is that Pi Day gives us an excuse to indulge in pie. And why not – in addition to being a homonym for pi, pie is a circular object, so you could use pi to express information about your pie. But we’re just here for the food porn, so here are some of our favorite pies.
