A Cement Factory in Barcelona Turned into a Home

Barcelonas Cement Factory by Ricardo Bofill 17 415x408Don’t you just love large spaces and a good privacy?. Ricardo Bofill took something completely out of the ordinary and turned it into the perfect place to make the ‘Bloginity headquarters‘ so perhaps it’s time we move out. It’s not really a home though, it’s an office, a residence, an exhibition space and so much more.

The project began in 1973 when Ricardo discovered this cement factory in Barcelona. The industrial complex comprises from over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms. Without thinking twice the architect had transformed it into his head office. Remodeled at last, the project lasted for two years and the factory, well, not a factory anymore has turned into his home, exhibition space, and his office.

The factory is a magic place which strange atmosphere is difficult to be perceived by a profane eye. I like the life to be perfectly programmed here, ritualised, in total contrast with my turbulent nomad life.” – Ricardo Bofill

The question remains – would you live in a Cement Factory by yourself?

This office is just absolutely amazing. How I would like to work in a place like that, or to own a place like that…maybe one day

This is amazing!! I love it when old buildings, espically that used to be used within the industry get turned into houses! This is like something out of a film <3
