Elizabeth Banks has confirmed she has been cast in ‘The Hunger Games‘.
The 37-year-old actress – who has appeared in ‘The 40-year-old-Virgin’ and the ‘Spiderman’ films – revealed she will star as no-nonsense Effie Trinket in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ book trilogy.
She hinted she had signed for the part via her twitter account when she wrote one of Effie’s most infamous lines, before finally confirming the role to her followers.
The ’30 Rock’ star wrote:
“Guess who said this: I’m smiling at you even though you’re aggravating me.
“Yes! And I can now confirm I’m EFFIE TRINKET in @TheHungerGames. So excited! (sic)”
Elizabeth’s character escorts young death match contestants to their fate in a futuristic world in the tale which follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who will be played by Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence.
Katniss lives in a world where teenagers are selected by a lottery system to compete to the death in a series of games put on for entertainment.
With her hunting partner Peeta, she has to fight on behalf of the district in the deadly Hunger Games reality show competition.
