Modern Art in the Summertime, New York City Exhibitions

By Daniel Haim

“Modern art is what happens when painters stop looking at girls and persuade themselves that they have a better idea.”During the month of April, our favorite museum – MoMA announced that their beautiful museum will be extending it’s hours during the summertime. And let’s face it there is nothing better then the summertime in New York City. Girls in dresses, guys in shorts and flip flops with bright color Rybans to chillin in Central Park after a picnic to enjoying modern art at New York City’s MoMA.

Beginning July 1st through September 3rd, the museum will be open until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and opening its doors from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays providing everyone more opportunities to enjoy the renowned collection and special exhibitions.

Sadly, that’s true that the summer is very short in New York but with MoMA’s new acquisition of works in media, which includes David Wojnarowicz’s A Fire In My Belly and of course the new exhibition ‘Impressions from South Africa, 1965 to Now’ which is running until August 14, 2011 there’s a lot to enjoy.
