For the August issue of Vogue photographer Ben Toms photographs Alana Zimmer in a colorful and vibrant editorial that is a crazy mix of color, pattern and texture. Styled by Katie Shillingford featuring stand-out designs from labels including Prada, Gucci and Givenchy.
It is quite an eclectic collection of garments, but it works really well because there is just so much to look at. The vibrant colors and patterns don’t exactly go together well, and certainly do not follow any hard and fast fashion rules, but because there is so much clashing, the overall look is appealing and works wonderfully within the context of the shoot. In particular I feel the photograph with the purple fur coat and orange tights stands out.
This retro photo shoot is attention grabbing, and features feather fedoras, fur overcoats that go down the the floor, a paisley suit and a pair of pink trouser braces. On paper, it doesn’t really sound like a fashion match made in heaven. However, the images are playful, lighthearted and fun, which is created through the eccentric styling and simple posing from Alana.
