This moody, floral fashion editorial is shot by Steven Klein for the August issue of Vogue US, titled Late Bloomers. Set in a garden location, these photographs are styled by Camillia Nickerson, who dresses Raquel Zimmermen in designs from the likes of Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander, Lanvin and Mary Katrantzou. These bright, structured and floral fashion designs mimic the texture of the hedges that are surrounding Raquel. Raquel manages to pull off this whole shoot without once giving eye contact to the camera.
Raquel Zimmerman has been featured in a lot of very different fashion editorials recently. She is nothing if not versatile in her approach to modeling, and I think this is one of my favorite editorials of her to date. The styling by Camilla Nickerson is imaginative and interesting, I especially love the clashing colour palette.
Raquel’s blonde hair is tucked into a fiery red curly wig, which I think looks great, and the colour brings out the pattern and details in some of fashion pieces. Also her darkly defined brows give the whole look a very glamourous edge. The stunning garden location looks really beautiful, and the subtle narrative involving the gardener also works well. My favorite image is where Raquel is trying her hand at gardening herself, kneeling down with the flowers.
