As part of the promotion for her upcoming film Cowboys & Aliens, Olivia Wilde is featured on the cover, and in an editorial spread, for Marie Claire US. The images are shot by top photographer Tesh, who captures Olivia towering over the Manhattan skyline in beautiful full dresses from the likes of Bottega Venta, Emilio Pucci, Giorgio Armani and Gucci, which were all superbly chosen by stylist Alison Edmond.
I would say that the editorial images are a million times better than the cover image, which is very simple and plain. While she does look great, the editorial photographs inside are a a lot more exciting and inspirational. There is a great mix of color and black and white photography, and I love the urban landscape in the background of many of the images. I particularly think the photograph that looks as though it is shot “behind the scenes” works well, with all the equipment on show. Although this isn’t really that unusual to see anymore, I think it looks great with the skyscrapers in the background.
The fashion in this editorial is beautiful. The full, floor length dresses are seriously enviable, there is a hot red jacket, and some killer hair flowers. I think this is a fantastic shoot for Olivia Wilde, and a brilliant piece of promotion before her film release date.
