Versace’s fall 2011 campaign is dramatic, luxurious and elegant, wonderfully titled Fire and Ice. Versace is in a state of change. Where they usually use Mario Testino to shoot their promotional images, instead we have photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott behind this new campaign. Instead of the usual three or four images, there are twelve promotional photographs which star androgynous beauty Saskia de Brauw.
I feel the desolate location adds drama to the photographs. The barren landscape and setting sun really enhance the garments featured and the color palette compliments the designs perfectly. The black, purple and white garments with gold embellishments and details are accessorized and styled with gold jewelry and gorgeous handbags. This a completely new look for Versace, and I cannot wait to see it on the pages of every glossy fashion magazine.
Saskia de Brauw is a new and exciting choice for Versace. Where they often go for a celebrity or a blonde, I feel Saskia’s androgynous beauty works perfectly with the beautiful designs. My favorite image features the white feathered dress, I think this is a spectacular piece of design, but I love Saskia’s facial expression, as well as the gold accessories. A truly great venture into the new world of Versace.
