The first full weekend Magic Loungeabout has been hailed a huge success.
The inaugural fully blown festival, staged at the resplendent Broughton Hall, attracted over 2,500 people from across the country last weekend. The soundtrack was provided by a stellar cast including The Human League, Badly Drawn Boy, New Young Pony Club, Ed Sheeran, Fenech Soler and Steve Mason, who all commanded the main stage to great effect, On Sunday, guest speakers Howard Marks and Simon Beaufoy regaled a packed Food For Thought arena with tales of derring-do and filmic insights. Elsewhere there were showings from North Yorkshire Digital Cinema, revellers could indulge in a pint of Magic Ale, boutique campers had there own room service and DJs Graeme Park, Justin Unabomber, Mixmaster Morris and Tristan de Cunha had everyone dancing into the small hours.
The festival attracted a wide range of people, from families to party people, with all day kids’ entertainment, adults’ fun and games, various craft and art stalls and an essence of magic draped over the whole gorgeous and sun-kissed site.
Simon Adamson, the festival’s founder, said that, “After a year’s worth of hard work, we have put together and pulled off a great festival. It feels like everyone grasped the idea behind the ‘refined unwind,’ where we offered a wide range of accommodation – including yurts and tipis – as well as lots of delicious food and drink, and really sought to make the overall experience really special for everyone of every age. We’ll be back again next summer to do it all again – we’re already working on some tweaks for the next Magic Loungeabout, and hope again to enthral those who come to this beautiful part of the world, and the quite lovely backdrop of Broughton Hall.”
