Outkast Begins Negotiations To Sign New Record Deal

By Emmett Lindner

‘Speakerboxxx/The Love Below‘ debuted in 2003, and was the last collaboration by Outkast besides their soundtrack for the film Idlewild, in which both Big Boi and Andre 3000 starred alongside each other. Fans have since been lamenting the unique sound and irreplaceable style of the duo – rappers since have been able to sound similar, but never quite filling the void that was left behind; which in a way is fine, because who wants to listen to an Outkast clone when the real thing is just too good?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, however, the long cravings will soon be satisfied. The magazine reports that Outkast is now in negotiations to record their next album with Epic Records. A source told The Reporter that former Island/Def Jam Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid “has been busy erasing the company’s tarnished image and rebuilding its roster, which will soon include Outkast and Ciara. Reid has a long history with both acts, who were originally signed to his LaFace Records.”

This all comes in succession to Big Boi’s announcement several weeks ago that Andre 300 is working on a solo album. Their group LP is speculated to be released sometime next year.
