Ombré: when colour is softly graduated from light to dark or from one color to another.
This season we are seeing a continuation of the ombré craze, in fact nothing is safe. Hair, nails and make-up have all reflected this trend right through to Spring & Summer next year.
At Jen Kao’s S/S 2012 runway Wanda Ruiz, with the help of the CND team, created gradation manicures softly diffused with an airbrush tool.
And at Diego Benetti the ombré effect was created by adding a touch of color around the cuticle, fading into a nude color.
Usually created with an airbrush tool this effect can be re-constructed at home by applying the base color (the one closest to the cuticle) all over the nail and apply the tip color to the end using a sponge. Blend with a clear topcoat.
Use tints, tones or shades of the same color to experiment with a subtle version of this look or achieve something more spectacular by using two or three completely different colors and trial which technique works for you.
