We are always on the look out for fashion editorials that are unique or unusual in their approach to creative direction. This editorial, titled Forever Dark, was shot for the latest issue of Vision China by photographer Michael Donovan, and stars the beautiful Sheila Marquez. In this dark and intriguing narrative, Sheila is styled by Katie Burnett in a gorgeous mix of lace, leather and sheer fabrics from iconic design houses including Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Giorgio Armani.
What we find so interesting about these images is the weathered and distressed nature of the overwork on the photographs. We love the paint splattered effect and the way this is used to make the images more thought provoking and sinister. The scratches on top of the photographs, as well as the paint and ripped effects really make these images stand out as an editorial collection, and we love the overall look. Every photograph is dark yet seductive, and we feel that Sheila looks truly fantastic in every shot. The framing of every image is perfect, and the desaturated nature of the colour composition means that the paint work and scratched overlay is even more striking.
