Fendi girl is all grown up, apparently. There were no wild colors, radical silhouettes, no frills -well, save for the use of folded organza as an appliqué for some pencil skirts and a few of the evening looks.
Could this be a new direction for the house? It’s too soon to say, but there’s definitely something different about this collection. The shapes are a lot more mature. Sure the craftsmanship is there, and the details and accessories sublime, but it lacked the funk and whimsy you’d expect from one of Lagerfeld’s collections for Fendi.
Don’t get me wrong; there was lots to love about this collection. That perfect A-line dress in butterscotch perforated leather, and the silver-streak of separates toward the end of the line up were all fabulous. It just lacked a little life, that’s all.
