After so much talk and all the rumors, the first image from Givenchy’s spring 2012 campaign has finally washed on shore. Riccardo Tisci, creative director, described the atmosphere of the shoot, captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, as “the expression of a love story between a surfer and a mermaid.”
Steering away from the Arielle-Prince Eric archetype, the campaign, staring A-listers Gisele Bündchen, Mariacarla Boscono (not pictured), Chris Moore, and Simone Nobili, is ominous, and obviously sexy.
Set against the backdrop of an eerie skyline, Gisele exudes all the seductiveness and strength of a modern day siren, whose song (and wardrobe) lures adonises close to surf before devouring them without remorse. Only this time, according to Tisci, she’s found love.
The campaign is set to debut in most major gloss publications starting in February.
