Jason Wu is back to his aristocratic ways with his Pre-Fall 2012 collection. But these weren’t the veiled, Klimtian princesses from last fall’s much venerated Robert Polidori/Versailles line-up, although another artist – color illustrator Charley Harper this time – served as one of the initial sparks. For pre-fall Wu went way east, all the way to India, for the majestic touch.
With an army of embellishments, from the jet beads and pailettes that adorned the collars of everything from silk georgette gowns to the camel hair cape, to the sequins that glazed the houndstooth on the even more gob-smacking daywear dresses, it’s obvious that no matter what the season, or the venue, a new Jason Wu collection is always ready to impress in artistry and vision. It’s also a surefire call to pull out pen and paper to start getting the handful of orders ready for later in the year.
