The Chanel creative director presented the label’s latest Resort collection at the Château de Versailles in Paris on Monday. It has been praised for being wearable but also high fashion – models wore bobbed wigs in pastel shades and stuck on tattoos of the label’s double C logo.
Vogue star Andre was overcome by the designs.
“What Mr. Lagerfeld has given the world – a respect of the culture of luxury, fashion should be fun and the romance of beautiful clothes in a very modern way,” he told ET Online.
Andre was particularly taken with the built-up shoes which models graced the runway in.
“The shoes are the best shoes Chanel has done; practical platforms for people who don’t want to wear heels,” he said.
Andre spoke to Karl at the event and raised the topic of the new face of the Chanel No. 5 fragrance – Brad Pitt. The ads have already been shot in London and the designer is thrilled with the result, explaining the “idea is perfect”.
“It’s a novel thing because Marilyn Monroe, who used to wear the drops of Chanel, now is in the Dior ads, so we had to take something else!” he laughed.
