Iris Apfel should head up Schiaparelli, suggests Jenna Lyons.

Jenna is the president and executive creative director of J. Crew, while 90-year-old Iris is famed for her flamboyant style and is widely regarded as a fashion muse.

Earlier this month, Diego Della Valle confirmed he will be re-launching the iconic Schiaparelli fashion house next year and there has been much speculation about who should head it up.

“Iris is so full of life, and she’s got an incredible attitude,” Jenna told New York Post, when quizzed on who she thinks should land the job.

“I don’t think she’d want to, but I think she would be amazing.”

Among those who have been linked to the role already is shamed designer John Galliano, who was fired from Christian Dior last year. Industry professionals are doubtful he will land the position though as he has been deemed too “risky” for America.

Jenna also touched on another recent, big, fashion story. Julia Restoin Roitfeld welcomed her first child earlier this week and Jenna had some ideas for her.

“The name Grey for a boy or a girl. I really love the name,” she said.

Julia and her partner Robert Konjic are the proud parents of a daughter, her representative has now confirmed.

“We are delighted to confirm that Julia and Robert have had a healthy baby girl,” the spokesperson told Vogue.co.uk. “Both mother and daughter are doing very well and resting at home.”

The new arrival is understood to be called Romy – which shoe designer Brian Atwood posted on Twitter.
