The Italian designers will be showing off a high-fashion offering in Sicily on July 9. Although they are famed for attracting an A-list front row at their presentations, this time around things are going to be different.
The flamboyant pair aren’t known for their couture gowns and WWD reports they have decided to only invite clients to the show.
“Word has it that the July presentation on their home turf is an experiment to see if the designers want to take the concept further into a full-fledged business,” reports the publication.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have apparently considered moving into haute couture for many months.
They created one-of-a-kind pieces for Andrea Dellal and Scarlett Johansson to wear to the Costume Institute Gala in New York City earlier this year.
The designers aren’t the only big names making the move into couture. Versace showed its first collection since 2004 earlier this year and will be unveiling a new range of custom made jewelry to go along with it this weekend.
