The New York Spring/Summer 12 catwalks were awash with this trend, with Theyskens’ Theory and Marc Jacobs showing off the iridescent, sparkly style to perfection.
At Theyskens’ Theory, models donned shiny trousers, sleek T-shirts and pretty vest tops. Although for some designers this look is about pearl shades, designer Olivier Theyskens tried something new. His models boasted midnight blue tops covered in sparkly crystals, or wet-look Tees which appeared to be made from leather.
Marc Jacobs went for the other spectrum of the look, offering metallic golden vests which were loose and draped. Dresses hit the knee and featured layers of pearly, iridescent fabric in a nod to the season.
So with this look there are two ways you can go. If you want to test out a whimsical style, opt for pale colors with a sheen – so vests which have a metallic shine or short-sleeved tops with some sequins dotted around.
If you prefer something a little edgy, go for matte leather trousers paired with a metallic draped top. Sandals or high heels will work well with this look – pick whichever suits the weather.
