Marc Jacobs: I wasn’t fat drug addict

Marc Jacobs

The fashion designer has spent time in rehab for heroin addiction and is now clean. Last year Marc’s business partner Robert Duffy joked Marc used to gorge on cake at that time, laughing he was the only “fat heroin addict” around.

Marc has now cleared up the misconception.

“That was the stupidest thing I ever heard, because first of all, I was never a fat heroin addict. I was a skinny heroin addict and I got over that luckily, but I was never — I was fat when I stopped doing drugs, not fat while I was doing drugs. I don’t know anyone who’s fat when they’re doing drugs,” he told German publication Interview.

Marc also spoke about his favorite things, saying he still enjoys cigarettes. He is now proud of the way he looks – the designer is famously buff – so feels he can indulge some vices.

“Smoking’s the best. Smoking and sleeping are the two best things in the world,” he said.

“I think perfection’s an ideal — I don’t think you can ever really achieve it. There’s always something to do. I mean, I keep adding tattoos and piercings, and all of sorts of stuff, and I don’t know, maybe, who knows what I’ll do in the future, but I’d like to think I’m not done.”

Finally touching on the series of images Victoria Beckham starred in for his brand, Marc explained why he had her posing in a bag with just her legs poking out.

“I said, ‘Let’s treat her like she’s a kind of product.’ Because she is, she’s created herself,” he said.
