The iconic Vogue editor was spotted sharing a meal during Paris Couture Week with a male friend believed to be the disgraced designer.
Onlooker Albert Pang, who was eating at Ritz restaurant L’Espadon in the French capital, pictured the pair meeting outside the posh eatery. Despite the blurry quality of the Instagram photographs, the identity of the two fashion legends cannot be mistaken.
“I’m 100% positive … it was Galliano. He arrived alone and took a seat outdoors where I was, and ordered a drink (not sure what drink, I couldn’t see it because I was two tables away),” he told The Cut.
“The picture with a few people was someone from the table who knew Galliano, and they said hi. Then about 10 or 15 minutes later Anna Wintour came and she seemed very excited, with hurried steps to Galliano. If I remember correctly, they hugged. But I couldn’t hear a thing. Then they moved indoors for dinner.”
Interestingly, Anna and Galliano met up on the day the disgraced fashion creative’s successor Raf Simons showed his debut collection for Dior.
The designer was dismissed from the French fashion house and his eponymous label after he used racist language during a drunken argument.
However, industry icons including Kate Moss have remained loyal to their shamed friend.
Despite the scandal surrounding the designer, the supermodel wore a custom-made Galliano bridal gown at her wedding to rocker Jamie Hince last July.
Recently, it has been reported that he was in the running for the Schiaparelli design job but the notion was dismissed by insiders as “too risky”.
