Anya Hindmarch’s entire office dressed in mortarboards and gowns when she received an honorary doctorate.
The designer was awarded a Doctor of Arts degree at the Anglia Ruskin University in England last year. Her team were incredibly proud of her, so decided to dress up in the classic educational outfit.
“Despite being a small, busy, team, we still make time for fun,” PR and marketing director of the label Kate Southworth said. “Beauticians stop by to do manicures, we bake cakes for each other’s birthdays and when Anya received a doctorate last year the office dressed in gowns and mortarboards as a surprise.”
Anya’s team are all dedicated to the business and go out of their way to support the designer. This was shown when a mishap occurred in New York City.
“At an event once, we gave guests personalized espadrilles,” Kate recalled to the latest edition of UK magazine Elle. “But the shoes got stuck in customs and we missed the seamstress who was going to sew the guests’ initials on. I rallied the team to create a cross-stitching production line until they were all done.”
