Dsquared2 Planning Expansion
Design duo Dean and Dan Caten plan to broaden their fashion vision by designing new collections outside of menswear and womenswear. The self-confessed “control freaks” have their sights set high for the future development of their company.
“We have to put our noses in everything. We don’t just want our name slapped on stuff to make a profit,” Dan said. “But we’d love to become household names: homeware and baby clothes and anything we like.”
The Canadian-born designers’ popularity in the celebrity world speaks for itself – the twins have dressed Justin Bieber and George Clooney on the red carpet and created stage clothing for Madonna and Britney Spears. They count Rihanna among those in their inner circle of friends and persuaded her to model for their catwalk shows. They claim the secret to their star pulling power is simply to produce wearable designs.
“We make things we like, that our customers like, and that people actually wear” Dean told UK newspaper The Guardian. “There’s loads of other designers who do that other thing. To us, it’s fashion: it’s not reinventing the wheel, we’re just trying to make it roll a little better.”
