Joanna Sykes is the new creative director of Nicole Farhi.
The luxury womenswear brand has taken on the former Aquascutum design director after the label went into administration earlier this year. Joanna will start her role at Farhi in September with her first collection set for Fall/Winter 13.
“I am extremely excited at the prospect of joining Nicole Farhi,” Joanna said about her appointment. “It is an iconic, British brand with fantastic heritage and enormous potential. I can’t wait to get started.”
As well as her role at Aquascutum, Sykes was head designer for Freda at Matches and ran her own eponymous label for three-and-a-half years. She studied at Central St Martins and has also been a design consultant at Giorgio Armani, Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy.
The label’s founder Nicole Farhi believes Joanna is the ideal person to continue its timeless style and grace.
“Jo brings a fantastic eye for detail, as well as a great understanding of cut, proportion and fabrication,” explains Nicole Farhi to Vogue.com, continuing by describing her as “the perfect appointment for the company.”
