The Salvatore Ferragamo team plunged into their rich archives this Summer and came out with the perfect mid-year accessory – the ‘Arcobaleno’ frames. Anchored by a sense of historical chicness, these sunglasses are the perfectly balanced modern day analogues to the 1930s wedge sandals Ferragamo himself created for the late Judy Garland. One can only guess that those iconic multi-colored bands of suede on those wedges were the inspiration behind the architecural ton-sur-ton curves that grace the sides of the wide tortoise acetate frames.
A no-brainer summer staple, the ‘Arcobaleno’ comes in black, brown, purple and red, among others. So, it seems Salvatore Ferragamo has Summer 2012 covered. Let’s just hope they do a little bit more digging for the coming Fall and pull out another long, but not lost, house treasure along the way.
The ‘Arcobaleno’ Salvatore Ferragamo limited edition frames are now on sale at Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques worldwide.
