Valentino Fall 2012 Couture – Beauty Report
Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciol took a surprising step away from the usual esthetic and a more mature, sensual and severe Valentino woman introduced a more arcane prestige to the dreamlike elegance of a classic beauty. Romance was still the prevailing thought, but for this season, the designers veiled the idea in a luxurious play in the dark.
Sleek, high buns were tightly wrapped and clean, save for two small strands by the ears delivering a delicate softness around the cheekbones. Highlights in the center of the face gave the eyes a bit more sparkle adding something more youthful and sweet to the monochromatic look, a slight contrast to the sophistication of the collection. Hints of taupe matched lips that appeared to blossom straight from the florals printed on nude dresses transforming models into ethereal additions to a secret garden.
