Italian stalwart Salvatore Ferragamo is the first luxury brand to launch its very own microsite digital trunk show, bypassing the Moda Operandi juggernaut completely, unlike many of its haute contemporaries. Instead, the Ferragamo team has instead decided to set up shop at home base (http://trunkshow.ferragamo.com/), offering the militant Tsarina stylings of their rich Fall 2012 collection before it hits the Salvatore Ferragamo boutique racks worldwide.
Shoppers can peruse the looks, sported with her usual chic gravitas by style wunderkind Lily Kwong, or they can check out the garments in action by viewing each ensemble as it walked down the runway in Milan last February in the accompanying digital video. Better yet, potential buyers can do what every aspiring fashionista has been dreaming since Clueless hit theaters back in summer of ’95. In pure Cher Horowitz fashion, you can virtually mix and match the collection on a digital mannequin form for attaining maximum glam impact – not that it’s hard to do when Salvatore Ferragamo is what you’ve got to work with.
It’s a testament to Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti and the Ferragamo atelier that even a random approach to the digital styling still renders you a complete and cohesive rich sensibility. They’ve made it hard for you to get the look wrong. “The extreme richness of the collection is manifested through beautiful fabrics, but also through my passion for craftsmanship that is in perfect harmony with creativity and attention to detail,”describes Massimiliano Giornetti of the Fall/Winter Ferragamo collection. “Elegance is a question of detail: the antiqued gold of the signet buttons, smooth astrakhan skirts resembling luxurious fabrics, and hems enlivened by a subtle play of Paisley and braiding enriched by interlinking chains.”
The Salvatore Ferragamo online trunk show will be up for only a limited time, and trust, the pieces won’t last too long where they are. Get your Fall ’12 Ferragamo fix before everyone else here: http://trunkshow.ferragamo.com/.
