Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright created an image of an effortless, urban cool esthetic inspired by the supermodel era with a cutting edge, motocross vibe for the collection. Layered electric greens, cobalt blues and hi-vis corals will be what every “it girl” will want to wear- and as fashion’s ultimate cool girl Karlie Kloss closed their spring/summer 2013 show, one could only anticipate what the warm weather will bring to street fashion.
Collaborating with Revlon for the show, Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman stuck to subtle beauty. “I wanted to create a look that was bold, but still looked soft and natural,” says Westman. “I was inspired by the iconic supermodels of the 90’s and the great structure of their brows. I kept the makeup very pure, adding just a touch of natural flush to the lips by mixing two lip products together, and I used a brow pencil to create subtle freckles and a dramatic brow to top the whole look off.” Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream in Light and Medium was applied all over the face and highlighted with Revlon Baby Stick in Pink Passion from The Spring/Summer ’13 Collection.
Lids were nude, Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quad in Addictive created dimension and was topped with Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown and Grow Luscious Mascara on lashes. Lips were soft and silky using Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Supermodel (available January 2013) and mixed with Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum. The highlight of the look was the bright white manis clutching sleek bags, Revlon Nail Enamel in Elegant worn on half of the models and Revlon Top Speed in Spirit worn on half of the models (available January 2013). “White can be intimidating to wear,” says celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi. “To guarantee a finished look, you should always use three coats, as it ensures that the polish will look perfectly opaque and smooth.” Hair was slicked back and worn loose and simple, leaving the face open as the focal point of this beauty look.
