Prada is on a simplistic roll this week. Earlier this week, the Italian luxury brand released its Spring 2013 menswear campaign shot by David Sims. Shot in black and white, the campaign featured Hollywood heavy-hitters like Benecio del Toro and Harvey Keitel (They’re so damn clever with their male casting).
Now, Steven Meisel’s Spring womenswear campaign has hit the web, and it seems that simplicity is still reigning in Milano. The latest campaign features newbie models Irina Kravchenko, Sung Hee, Kirsten Owen, Irene Hiemstra, Vanessa Axente and modelin powerhouses Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova (she’s back thank you Jesus!) and most surprising of all – Amber Valetta – the reigning queen of Prada through most of the 1990s and more surprising still – Saskia de Brauw, who has never been a Prada darling. All the ladies look sensational, but it’s Saskia’s show here. Another stroke of genius on Prada’s casting team. The shot of her sporting those trippy Warhol hibiscus bloom-lined sunglasses are bound to make those accessories sell like gangbusters.
