Italian fashion houses know a thing or two about beautiful objects, which is why it should be no surprise that Fendi has offered its financial assistance to restore five fountains around the city of Rome.
Starting with the Trevi Fountain, the restoration project, entitled Fendi for Fountains, will take four years. Karl Lagerfeld and Silva Fendi are expected to announce the details of the plan later today in a press conference. The other fountains have yet to be named.
Rumor has it that at the end of the restoration of the Trevi Fountain, Fendi will host a runway show there. No stranger to using architectural wonders as the back drop of its shows, Fendi famously held a fashion show on the Great Wall in 2007. There is also a photo book, shot by Lagerfeld, that is expected to be released later this year.
