Paul was born in Hertfordshire, England and studied fashion at Central Saint Martin’s college of Art, London. He graduated in 1997 with a BA Hons in Fashion Design with Marketing, having completed an industrial placement at Prada Uomo, where he assisted Neil Barrett, creative head at that time.

Immediately after graduating, Paul was approached by Ruffo S.P.A, the Italian based luxury leather house to design and consult for their women’s and men’s RTW collections.

Based in London, Paul was invited by Chris Bailey of Jigsaw Menswear, to design a capsule collection for the London based retail company. He worked as a design consultant for the Jigsaw and later Bailey men’s collections.

In 1998, Paul relocated to New York, after being recruited by Calvin Klein INC, as senior designer on the cK Calvin Klein Men’s Collection. In 1999 Paul was made design director and continued to live and work in New York until early 2001.

Paul returned to Europe in 2001, to continue his consultancy with Ruffo S.P.A. He was appointed the role of creative director overseeing all the brands women’s and men’s leather and accessory collections.

In 2003, Paul joined Burberry Ltd, as senior designer on the Burberry London Menswear line. He worked on the sartorial and outerwear collections reporting to creative director, Christopher Bailey.

Since early 2007, Paul has been based in Milan, Italy, working for Jil Sander where he held the position head designer, menswear, reporting to Raf Simons, creative director. He worked on both the fashion show and commercial collections before taking the role as creative director position at ZZegna, in July 2011.
