Lucio Castro took the assembly line of fashion literally in his ready-to-wear men’s fall 2013 presentation. Having models slowly but deliberately make their way around and around to show off Castro’s primary color fueled collection.
Sharp colors of red, yellow, and blue found their way off the conveyor belt and onto color-blocked twill pants, oxford shirts, and jackets. Bright colors would definitely make any dreary winter day a little cheerier—especially the bold touches of accessories used in the line. Who wouldn’t love to store some cold day fun in the bright red backpacks (which are quickly competing with beanies as the hot male accessory of the season)? Yea, we couldn’t think of very many people who wouldn’t like to either.
The varsity jackets and blazers also added to the preppy aspect of the collection. However, alongside the color-blocked pants, the preppy-cum-downtown cool mixing didn’t always seem to mesh with the whole collection. The swipe of paint on the models also seemed a little off.
The bright colors and individual pieces of the season were right on track, however the whole collection may have needed a wee bit more time on the assembly line to produce a completely cohesive collection.
