Want to know what fashion global domination looks like? Look no further than the Chanel ready-to-wear fall 2013 collection. A massive illuminated globe, with the CC logos shining on all of the store locations across the world, sat in the center of the catwalk and visually highlighted the force that Chanel is. Karl Lagerfeld seems to be able to do no wrong, as proven by his super prowess across the universe, and this collection just attests this fact further.
Playing with texture and volume, this collection managed to make people ask how it was possible. Knitwear pleats that weren’t heavy looking? Chanel did it. Jackets that appeared warm but not bulky? Oh, those were in the collection. Of course the tweed and chain link purses made appearances on the runway but in updated manners.
Printed denim and fuzzy, colorful hats added some whimsy the collection, but the thigh-high leather boots and mini-skirts definitely brought the sexiness. Touches of grunge mixed with a traveler vibe made the mainly black and white collection seem deeper. Sheer fabrics, which have been a major trend this runway season, even found its way onto a few pieces.
What’s next after global domination? Who knows, but we’re anxious and excited to see what Mr. Lagerfeld has up his sleeves to add to his reign.
