The band doesn’t sound anything like Lynyrd Skynyrd, but Memphis May Fire may be the hottest thing to come out of the south since the producers of the unfortunately ubiquitous “Sweet Home Alabama.” Memphis May Fire actually couldn’t be farther in sound from the classic rockers of “Freebird” fame, but that doesn’t make them incapable of turning heads. The Texas-based band has been compared to the likes of Underoath and Every Time I Die, favoring a sound commonly (and quite ambiguously) classified as “post-hardcore,” but adding a unique southern element. The band released Sleepwalking (download here) on Trustkill Records, home of Bullet For My Valentine, It Dies Todayand other intense acts.

If you thought Natalie Nunn wasn’t as big a name as Amber Rose, this video may eventually prove you wrong. Natalie Nunn is making quite a name for herself by coming out and taunting Amber Rose, telling her she is getting Natalie’s “sloppy seconds” by dating rapper Wiz Khalifa. Of course, no one seems to be taunting Wiz Khalifa for getting Kanye West’s seconds, as Kanye and Amber Rose dated previously; but then, riding Kanye’s coattails doesn’t seem too horrible.

Gregg Allman hasn’t released a solo album for 14 years, and it’s clear from Low Country Blues that Allman didn’t rush into this one. Gregg Allman’s new solo disc, which drops Tuesday – preview and order it here – shows not only his talent for writing original songs, but also his respect for other blues greats. On Low Country Blues, Gregg Allman offers just one original track, using cover songs as a way to toast the best of the blues.

Okkervil River will release its new album, I Am Very Far, which is the follow-up to 2008’s The Stand Ins, on May 10. I Am Very Far features eleven new songs, produced and arranged by frontman Will Sheff in Austin, New York City and Connecticut.

Eminem’s Recovery (read Bloginity’s review here) sold ridiculously well, but the rapper hasn’t just been keeping an eye his own sales after its release. Instead, Eminem has been searching for the top new talent in the game, and just announced the signing of Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse to Shady Records. While record deals occur every day, getting signed to Shady Records is a sign that your career could be headed in a similar direction to Eminem’s own.
