Kanye-West-Jay-Z-Watch-The-Throne
by Charlie Nathanson

Amidst bottles and bottles of champagne, Jay-Z announced that his collaborative album with Kanye West, titled Watch The Throne, will be released next week. For any hardcore rap fans, this album is obviously a must buy. It’s almost the equivalent of U2 and The Rolling Stones collaborating on an album…almost. This is not the first time that Jay-Z and Kanye have collaborated, and unless this album does not sell well (which is pretty unlikely), it will most likely not be the last.

The-Ramones
by Charlie Nathanson

The Ramones, widely seen as the epitome of punk rock music, are to be honored with a Lifetime Acheivement Award at the Grammy Awards at the 2011 ceremony. Unfortunately, the band’s three founding members (Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee) all passed away before they could be honored with this award. In fact, there is only one remaining member still alive from the original Ramones lineup – Tommy. He, along with the other members who collectively formed The Ramones over the years they were active, will be accepting the award on their behalf when the time for the ceremony is upon us.

Paramore-Break-Up
by Charlie Nathanson

You might have caught that post last week about Paramore having “bittersweet” feelings about their latest album Brand New Eyes, and planning to make it into the studio sometime soon to work on a new album – if not, read it RIGHT HERE. While that still may be the case, it looks like the band will have to do so sans the Farro brothers – Josh and Zac. For those unfamiliar with the band, Josh plays lead guitar and provides backing vocals, while Zac plays drums.

Kanye West - Christmas in Harlem
by Daniel Haim

In the span of three short years, Kanye West went from hip-hop beatmaker to worldwide hitmaker, as his stellar production work for Jay-Z led to a major-label recording contract and, ultimately, a wildly successful solo career. West paired his beats with tongue-twisting raps and a self-assured, flamboyant personality. His dapper fashion sense set him apart [...]

Cipha-Sounds
by Brian Willett

DJ Cipha Sounds is a favorite on-air personality in the New York area, but he made plenty of enemies recently with an insensitive comment about Haitian women. However, it sounds as though Cipha Sounds got off easy, as many leaders of the Haitian community were calling for Cipha Sounds to be fired. All of the controversy surrounds a broadcast in which Cipha Sounds said, “the reason I’m HIV negative is because I don’t mess with Haitian girls.”

Last-Train-To-Paris-Review
by Brian Willett

It’s a good thing that Diddy doesn’t really need to make any money from records at this point, because if he were an unknown artist, this isn’t the type of material that would secure a deal.

Crystal-Bowersox-Farmers-Daughter-Review
by Brian Willett

Farmer’s Daughter boasts a modern folk feel and an accessible country vibe, and is a good indicator that Crystal Bowersox’s time in the spotlight is not yet over. Bowersox’s sense of when to allow the band to tag along and when to go solo makes all of the tracks work well, and she doesn’t fall into the trap of trying to do too much or too little. Even if you’re not a fan of country, give Farmer’s Daughter a shot.

R-Kelly-Love-Letter-Review
by Brian Willett

All in all, Love Letter has a few absurd moments, but overall, it’s full of classic R. Kelly. Love Letter has a fair amount of sure-to-be hit singles, and features a lot of catchy songs and smooth R&B rhythms. Although every track isn’t the most original, Love Letter finds R. Kelly branching out with success on several tracks and is worth a listen.
