No matter what the critics are saying, the true measurable movie review is the box office receipts. After all, movies are all about making money, so the buck stops at the box office. This weekend, a number of heavily hyped movies battled for supremacy, including True Grit, Country Strong and Little Fockers. Despite the diminutive name, Little Fockers performed admirably, while Country Strong proved to be anything but.

If you wondered why the subway seemed to be a nudist colony yesterday, it’s because of No Pants Subway Ride 2011. No Pants Subway Ride 2011 was organized by Improv Everywhere, an internet prank group. Despite the relatively (okay, completely) disturbing nature of putting your butt on a subway seat, No Pants Subway Ride garnered about 3,500 participants in New York City alone.

Elvis Presley’s birthday is tomorrow, January 8 – what do you have planned? Will you celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday by playing some of his songs or enjoying a peanut butter and banana sandwich? This concert, held on what would be Elvis Presley’s 76th birthday, will take place at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University in Chicago at 8 p.m.

How would you feel if the same beverage you enjoyed at the bar was used to fuel the car that got you there? If you were a fan of Four Loko, then you may be qualified to answer this question in the near future. Four Loko was pulled from shelves across the nation due to its dangerous combination of alcohol and caffeinated ingredients such as guarana. And while a new, non-caffeinated version is in the works, there’s still plenty of original Four Loko hanging around. But since it can’t be sold, Four Loko is being recycled…into fuel for cars.

In what may seem to be a late Christmas gift to fans, frontman John Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten in the Sex Pistols’ playing days (due to his poor hygiene), recently hinted at new Sex Pistols material surfacing in the forseeable future. Lydon is now the frontman of Public Image Limited (sometimes referred to as PiL), and says that the success of his new band makes him think of reforming the Sex Pistols again.

Yes, the Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal break up news is true, and no, they have not reconciled. To some, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal’s break up doesn’t seem that odd, as the two seemed to be a strange pair to begin with. However, the fact that Swift and Gyllenhaal don’t seem too similar doesn’t change the fact that many fans are upset over the stars’ break up. As you might imagine, age was a major factor.

Ted Williams, a homeless man in Columbus, Ohio, rocketed to notoriety when a video of his “golden radio voice” went viral. Check out Ted Williams’ homeless performance in the video below, as recorded by a Columbus Dispatch reporter. As Ted Williams explains, he began training his voice at the age of 14 and enjoyed creating scenes in the “theater of the mind,” a way of defining radio. In the video, Ted Williams says that he hopes one day he will be discovered, and it appears that day is here; with all the attention Ted Williams has been getting, he may be homeless no more.

Actress Vivica Fox, known for roles in films such as Independence Day, revealed she is engaged to Omar “Slim” White. Omar “Slim” White is a 27-year-old club promoter and he proposed to Fox on December 26. Omar “Slim” White proposed in style, with an 8-carat ring during the couple’s stay at Miami Beach’s Ritz Carlton.

Amidst bottles and bottles of champagne, Jay-Z announced that his collaborative album with Kanye West, titled Watch The Throne, will be released next week. For any hardcore rap fans, this album is obviously a must buy. It’s almost the equivalent of U2 and The Rolling Stones collaborating on an album…almost. This is not the first time that Jay-Z and Kanye have collaborated, and unless this album does not sell well (which is pretty unlikely), it will most likely not be the last.
