Royal-Engagement-Photos
by Brian Willett

The royal engagement photos are here! Prince William and Kate Middleton released their engagement photos today, with the couple showing a surprisingly modest look, in terms of fashion. Although the royal engagement photos show off Kate’s engagement ring – Prince William chose it because it belonged to his mother, Princess Diana – the clothing is unpretentious. For example, one picture features Kate sporting a $250 dress from a 2009 fashion collection, while another finds her in a $150 embroidered blouse.

Kanye West also caused a big stir with the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album cover, which features some artistic nudity. MNDR has been one of the most talked about names this year, and with good reason – Amanda Warner and her producer / co-writer Peter Wade have been forging their own distinctive path in 2010 with their madly inventive, infectious vein of electro pop, at once off-kilter and addictive, as influenced by Chicago juke and [...]

A film about CBGB, an iconic and historic New York venue that helped give rise to the punk rock scene, is in the works. Filmmakers Randall Miller and Jody Savin are in the midst of working on a biopic of the famous venue, which helped the careers of bands such as The Ramones, The Talking Heads and Blondie take off. In a recent interview with Sound on Sight, the filmmakers stated that the film will encompass more than just CBGB itself, but an entire musical generation – the underground punk rock music scene, as well as the era of rebellion and expression that followed along.

All-American-Nightmare-Review
by Brian Willett

If your idea of good rock music is what you can find on a top-4o station, then this will likely be the highlight of 2010 for you. If you prefer a little originality, creativity and perhaps even a time signature other than 4/4, then prepare to be disappointed. However, that’s not to say All American Nightmare won’t sell well; it will probably be certified gold and spawn a single or two that you’ll come to loathe as they’re overplayed. Hinder knows its demographic, and nails it on this album, suggesting that All American Nightmare is far more clever than it initially appears.

Charlie Wilson is known to many as the lead singer of the Gap Band, but the singer proves his solo efforts have not been a fluke on his latest effort, Just Charlie. Although Charlie Wilson has worked with a veritable who’s who of the R&B and hip-hop worlds, he keeps things simple on Just Charlie, limiting the guest spots to just one (Fantasia, on “I Wanna Be Your Man”), which allows him to shine.
