I Spit On Your Grave

by Brian Willett

The new film I Spit On Your Grave is unrated, and that’s a good indication that if you are not completely desensitized to movie violence and overall mental horror, you probably shouldn’t see it. I Spit On Your Grave shows that even in 2010, some humans aren’t civilized at all – because events in the film could actually happen, and because people actually want to watch this stuff.

I Spit On Your Grave (2010) is a remake of the 1978 film Day of the Woman and follows the story of a writer who moves into a secluded mountain cabin to work in peace – she gets anything but.  The writer, played by Sarah Butler, is stalked and eventually raped, after which she seeks to enact her revenge in the goriest, most torturous ways possible.  Because more violence and torture is needed in our society.
