Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana Once Tried to Release a Pop Song

Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana once tried to release a pop song, but it was a “complete disaster”. The Italian fashion designers set up their label in 1985, and it is now one of the most recognisable brands in the industry. Despite their success, Domenico has revealed he once considered changing professions. He has been obsessed with music for a long time, and has always harboured dreams of releasing a record. “When I was six years old, I dreamt I wanted to be a singer. After starting the fashion line, we tried to make a song,” he revealed. “When we took it to the record company, there answer was that it would be much better if we didn’t change our jobs. It was a complete disaster. ”The pair are glad they abandoned that dream, as they agree they are much more talented at creating clothes. That said, Domenico still has a keen interest in the music business and loves it when singers wear their clothes. “For us professionally, the career highlight was the moment we started Dolce & Gabbana. We had done one collection, then we were asked to join the official shows in Milan,” Domenico told British InStyle. “But for me personally, it was when we met Madonna in New York. We had always looked at Madonna as fans. We would say, ‘Ah, can you imagine if one day Madonna dressed in Dolce & Gabbana?’, 18 months later the dream came true.”
