Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway

Driving Miss Daisy starring Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl

After attending the February 8th benefit performance of Driving Miss Daisy I am blown away by the theatrical presence of the acting elite Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones.

This production, a rendition of the academy award winning film is sure to go down in theatre history as a gripping performance by two acting heavy weights. As they exchanged their comedic banter I found myself utterly blown away by the dynamic duo and their ability to transform right on stage.

James Earl Jones immediately pulls on your heart strings with his innocent and humble personality, Vanessa Redgrave is the opposite and the audience learns to love the pushy and domineering southern mother. The story is an American classic set during the civil rights movement, Vanessa Redgrave a southern reformed Jewish matriarch, Opens up her stubborn heart to a chauffeur James Earl Jones and the pairs’ unorthodox relationship makes for a sweet yet deep story Boyd Gaines played the eager to please son and stood out in the three person play amongst co-stars.

The crowd at the benefit performance was full of characters, one including comedienne Lisa Lampanelli. The loud mouth celebrity donning a pair of jeans UGG boots and enjoyed the play discretely amongst the spectators of the must see play of the year.
