Randy Newman’s Best Songs – 2011 Oscars Winner for Best Original Song

by Brian Willett

Randy Newman was the Oscar winner for Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or other Visual Media at the 83rd Academy Awards Sunday night, adding to his 2011 award stash that also includes a Grammy. Randy Newman picked up the Oscar for his song, “We Belong Together,” from Toy Story 3. Prior to the Oscars, Newman won the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for the same film.

Given Newman’s success this year, some might assume he is a relative newcomer to the cinema music scene, but that’s not the case. Those familiar with Newman’s career, or at the very least, prior Toy Story films, know that Randy Newman has been producing top-quality music for a while. Here is a brief look at Newman’s best songs.
