Celine Fall 2011 – Beauty Report
by Mynxii White
Channeling the idea of a more paramount woman, Creative Director of Céline, Phoebe Philo focuses on the masculine to project someone more grounded. Taking her inspiration from cars, the designer embraces a new minimalism, finding a more feminine side of the automobile. Imagining what it felt like to be inside a beautiful, powerful car, the designer manifests a boyish look with significant Mod undertones.
The makeup is soft and simple, with just a hint of color on the cheeks, complimenting effortless, side swept hair. The illusion of a cropped coif strengthened the impression of the masculine, transforming each girl into a sleek and cool modern woman. Philo describes the car as very seductive, sensual, fast, and strong, applying all these ideologies to everything Celine represents this season.
